Encouraging healthy living through our 4th Grade Initiative.

At the Lafayette Family YMCA, we know that 4th grade is a time of transition and building strong foundations. That’s why 4th Grade Initiative (4GI) provides free membership for a year to the YMCA!

What happens in 4GI?

With a variety of perks during the school year and plenty of fun summer activities for kids in 4th grade, 4GI is a great way to keep kids busy and active. Homework help is available during school, in addition to fun events for meeting new friends. Summer activities include clubs, ice cream socials, pool parties, scavenger hunts, and more.

What makes 4GI great?

The whole family is invited to enjoy the benefits of 4GI, including:

  • Sunday Family Time from 2:30-5pm, which provides free YMCA admission to immediate family of 4th graders in the 4GI program
  • $25 credit toward any program offered through the Lafayette Family YMCA
  • 4th-grade fun nights announced throughout the year
  • Member rates for 4th graders wishing to participate in other Y programs
  • Member rates for families of 4th graders wishing to participate in Y programs
  • Monthly newsletters with 4GI activity schedules, event announcements, and reminders

How do I sign up for 4GI?

To register for 4GI, parents and 4th graders should visit the YMCA. Once proof of the child’s grade is presented and the application is complete, parents and children will go through orientation.
